Getting your porch windows is easier than you think
However you're getting there — remodeling, building new, or doing it yourself — here's how the process works from first call to finished porch.
Every project is a little different. Choose the path that fits yours:
Best for homeowners adding windows to an existing screened or open porch.

Frame Colors and Vinyl Tint Options
Frame Color Options Xtend Porch Windows come in four powder-coated aluminum frame colors — White, Tan, Brown, and Black — so you can match your home's look. Durable, won't peel or fade. Vinyl can be tinted or clear.
Window Sizing, Framing & Trim
Sizing, Framing & Trim Xtend Porch Windows have a 1" flange around the perimeter, so you'll want a flat exterior surface at least 1" thick to fasten into. Make sure the top and bottom of the framing can catch the flanges and sit flush with the vertical posts.
Placing windows side by side? Allow at least 2" of framing between them — or choose mulled units (double and triple-wide, up to 12' wide) that need no framing between the windows.
Installation
Installing Your Xtend Porch Windows Xtend windows have a 1" flange and fasten through it into the framing. Silicone caulking and color-matched screws are included.
- Remove packaging, pre-drill holes in line with window sashes, apply silicone to the back of the flanges.
- Center and square the frame in the opening; fasten a screw in each corner.
- Shim as needed so the middle width matches the top and bottom (an "hourglass" shape leaves panels too loose).
- Fasten the sides at each meeting rail.
- Fasten the header and sill with one screw in the middle.
- To tighten the screen, remove the spline on one vertical side, pull the screen tight, reinsert the spline, and trim the excess carefully.
- Operate the panels and adjust frames if needed.
- If panels are too loose, shim frames slightly closer together for more tension.
