Porch, Patio, Lanai or Screen Room? Creating a More Usable Outdoor Living Space

Depending on where you live, you might call it a porch, patio, lanai, screen room or three-season room.

Whatever the name, the goal is usually the same: make your outdoor living space more comfortable and usable without completely closing it off from the outdoors.

That is where vertical 4-track windows can be a great fit.

Different Names, Same Idea

A screened porch in Minnesota might be called a screened patio in another part of the country or a lanai in Florida.

The terminology changes, but the problems are often the same: wind, rain, pollen, dust, bugs and cooler weather can limit how often the space gets used.

No matter what you call your outdoor living space — or where you live — the product still has to hold up.

Xtend Porch Windows are built with powder-coated aluminum frames, cast aluminum corner keys, nylon tracks and flexible marine-grade vinyl glazing. The design was developed with durability, serviceability and everyday use in mind, whether the windows are going into a Minnesota porch, a Florida lanai or a screened patio somewhere in between.

The flexible vinyl sashes slide vertically and can open up to approximately 75% of the window area. Open them on a nice day and enjoy the breeze through the screens. Close them when the weather changes.

Great for Existing or New Outdoor Spaces

Xtend windows can be installed in an existing screened porch, patio, lanai or screen room, or incorporated into new construction.

For new spaces, we recommend designing individual window sections around 36 to 42 inches wide when possible. Xtend windows 42 inches wide or narrower do not require center bars, giving you a cleaner, more open view.

Larger openings can be handled with mulled window units, allowing multiple windows to connect together while keeping the individual sashes easy to operate.

Factory-Direct and DIY Friendly

Xtend windows are sold factory-direct by Porch Windows Direct, rather than through a dealer network.

You can install them yourself or hire a carpenter, handyman or contractor. We provide color-matched installation screws, instructions, videos and one-on-one technical support.

Our lifetime warranty and service support are also not tied to installation by a specific dealer or certified installer.

More Ways to Enjoy the Space You Already Have

Whether you call it a porch, patio, lanai, screen room or outdoor living area, the idea is the same.

You do not necessarily need to turn it into a traditional glass sunroom. Vertical 4-track windows can help make the space more comfortable through more of the year while still letting it feel like an outdoor space.

Less wind. Less rain. Less pollen and dust. More days enjoying the space.

That is what we mean by Year-Round Outdoor Living.

Porch Windows Direct manufactures custom Xtend Porch Windows in Minnesota and ships directly to homeowners, contractors and builders nationwide.
